OffTheLand

About

"Abundance is here."

OffTheLand is a local marketplace where absolutely anyone can sell, trade, share, or buy their fruits, vegetables, seeds, eggs, livestock, bee products, services, hand crafts, and artisan goods.

OffTheLand is community-driven and sponsored and is a great place for hobby gardeners, homesteaders, small-scale ranchers, & permaculture folks to connect directly with local, discerning consumers.

Problems with global food supplies:

  1. Our global food supply chains are vulnerable to cyberattacks, pandemics, solar flares, and other black-swan events. If any one of these events were to occur, the food in our grocery stores would only last 3 days.
  2. On average, each item on the plate travels 1500 miles, and thus 84% of food cost goes to shipping, warehousing, distribution, brokering, insuring, and retail. Inflation and economic pressures significantly increase the food prices at each step of the global food supply chains.

Solutions that OffTheLand brings:

  1. Turn your passion and hobby of gardening and ranching into a revenue stream by selling your abundance directly to conscious consumers in your local community (in your zip-code).
  2. Bartering, buying, & selling items locally builds a network of reliable & like-minded individuals. It's a win-win!

Soil • Use well-draining soil, such as cactus or succulent mix. • A pot with drainage holes is essential. 4. Temperature and Humidity • Temperature: Thrives in 60–85°F (15–29°C). Avoid frost or cold drafts. • Humidity: Tolerates dry air but thrives in normal household humidity levels. 5. Fertilizer • Feed with a general-purpose houseplant fertilizer once a month during spring and summer. • Do not fertilize in fall and winter. 6. Pruning • Remove damaged or dead leaves by cutting them at the base. • Snake plants rarely require pruning due to their slow growth.

The Villages, FL

There are many great homesteading, gardening, & living-off-the-land type of communities for sharing pictures, experiences, knowledge, and advice. But at best, these only offer a state-level forum or chat, so there’s no way to know who is in YOUR zipcode and what they are selling, giving away, or wanting to buy. OffTheLand acts as an enhancement/extension to these existing communities, to allow people to interact with like-minded folks in their local zipcode.
